You Feed Your Family Whaaat?

As we've all learned—sometimes the hard way, sometimes repeatedly—our words don't always mean the same thing to our readers that they do to us. Here's one more example of what can happen if we don't pay enough attention to our syntax. (Can you pick out the word that's the source of the problem here?)

A full-page ad currently running in several national magazines features two boys with somewhat tentative expressions; they're standing behind a large dog. Here are the big, bold headers:

I feed my entire family organic food.
Now that includes our pets.

Well, feed your family whatever you want, but you better hope the SPCA doesn't get wind of it.
