NPR was doing a short bit on the name of a lake—a long, long name, tough for anyone except local folks to pronounce. After spelling it, the reporter asked a resident of the area to say it for the radio audience.

We're not making fun of the person's speech—we've probably all had comparable brain-burps, and heard skilled users of the language do something comparable. We're just pointing out that when pronunciation changes from one part of speech to another, we have to take a little extra care. (And we're not even going to try to spell or pronounce the name.)
