  1. Suave (from Latin suavis, sweet) means smooth in speech and manner, sophisticated. 
  2. A usurer is someone who lends money at high rates—a loan shark (from Latin usura, "usury, interest").
  3. An admonition is a warning, a bit of (usually) friendly but firm advice. After the teacher’s admonition, she began to work harder on improving her vocabulary scores.
  4. Venial means minor, able to be forgiven. (from Latin venialis, pardonable)
  5. Ensconsed means securely settled, snugly installed. He was firmly ensconced in his favorite chair, nursing a beverage, doing a word quiz. (From Latin abscondere, to conceal. A sconce is the socket for holding a candle, or such.)
